5) How did you attract/address your audience?

¡  To attract my, I decided to promote my film as much as I could using different advertising techniques.
¡  To address my audience, I displayed my advertisements in places where I know that they would be seen by them such as shops, magazines, bus stops, the internet, etc.
¡  This means that there was a positive hype about the film before it was released.
¡  The advertisements contained the generic
conventions of a horror film, such as red
writing symbolising danger and a scary/
evil-looking child so that it would
       appeal to the target audience.

POSTER
¡  I created a poster that would attract the target audiences attention. The scary image of the evil girl makes it obvious that the film is in the horror genre.
¡  This poster was displayed in magazines, billboards, busses/bus stops, etc. where the target audience is likely to go when they go out.
¡  The more that the film was advertised, the more people wanted it to be released so that they could see it.
¡  Posters are a popular and successful way to advertise as they are easy to display is a wide range of places and able to catch people’s attention.

SOCIAL NETWORKING
¡  I also created a Twitter page for my production company ‘SHOCKER PRODUCTIONS’ where I could post links and updates related to my film.
¡  This also enabled me to promoted my film as I could share my poster, YouTube clips, etc. on there.
¡  Social networking is a good way to attract my target audience as most teenagers use Twitter, Facebook, etc. to  socialise and find out new things.
¡  The twitter page also allows me to interact with my target audience as we can communicate with each other if we wanted to ask questions or information about the film.

STRATEGY
¡  After a few months of advertising, I will release my film into the main British cinemas around the country with the help of collaborating production companies such as Vertigo.
¡  Following the average time of 4-5 week of cinema showings, I will wait about 2 months before cinema the film comes out of DVD. I will also release my film on Blue-Ray to keep up with modern technology.
¡  I will also offer my film to be showed on alternative media sources such as Sky Box Office and Netflix.com.
¡  Using a range of different media will ensure that my product reaches my target audience as they are likely to use these kinds of media.  It will also mean that my product earns more money as it is continued to be bought and watched.
¡  In the future, I will sell my TV channels such as BBC and ITV to be shown at peak times to get as many viewers as possible. I hope to collaborate with FILM 4 as my research shows that this is a popular channel regarding my target audience.
