Dolce and Gabbana Perfume Advert
This advertisment is targeted at young women. The character used to advertise this perfume is Scarlett Johansson who is a popular celebrity who people admire. This technique is called ideology where people are encouraged to buy the product if they want to be like the celebrity in the advert. The advert has a colour scheme of pastel pink which is traditionally a pretty girly colour, the pastel shade of it represents innocence so we get the idea that the perfume will make us seem more feminine and 'pretty'. The colour also links to the perfume bottle which is the same colour and leads the rest of the advert. The product is called 'rose the one' which is the main reason for the colour scheme. This name also represents women as flowers which are beautiful and feminine (like Scarlett) how women want to be seen as. Scarlett's facial image looking away, and her body posture with her hand on her face makes us see her as a beauty goddess, who other girls idolise and want to be like- helping to sell the product. However, her composition of laying down on a bed presents her as slightly promiscuous. This is also portrayed in her clothing which is slipping off her shoulder, also giving her 'sex appeal'. This means that she also gets the attention of a male audience who may be looking to buy a gift for a partner. The background is blurred out so that the main focus is Scarlett, the lighting reflected apon her face also makes her the centre of attention. The perfume bottle almost blends in to the background so that the main focus is on the model as she is what advertises and sells the product by her image and beauty. http://www.luxuo.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/11/scarlett-johansson-fragrance.jpg

Source Of Media - 2

Most mornings I like to watch 'This Morning' on my TV whilst i get ready for school. Seeing as TV's are no longer analogue, this source of media would also be digital. 'This Morning' is a casual news programme, so I can keep up with what is going on in the world using this source of broadcast media.

Use Of Media - 1

Today, I wanted to update my iPod with recent music so I went onto iTunes and connected to the website to download the songs I wanted. This used several types of media sources such as the iPod itself, the internet and iTunes, something that most people do everyday. These were all digital types of media, the internet however, was also a broadcast type of media too.

Analysing An Image

William and Kate

Denotation: This image shows Will and Kate holding eachother and looking extremely happy. It specifically shows off her ring which is boldly shown as her hand is almsost in the middle of the image.

Connotation: The fact that the ring is the centre of attention in this image explains the couples extreme happiness for eachother as we can guess they are recently engaged. they are holding eachother to show the viewer that they are 'in-love' and symbolise the perfect couple.

Lighting -  The lighting in theis image is quite bright which creates a positive atmosphere. The lighting is coming from outside of the window, which is a natural light, indicating that it is a sunny day and creates a happy mood. The light reflected on their faces gives the image a heavenly effect which represents who the couple are trying to be.

Framing - In the image, they are in a building with white walls and a window that you can see trees outside of it. This symbolises the innocence of the couple, the white walls represent purity and the trees that you can see represents nature, alose purity and innocence. The image is framed specifically around the couples faces so that their expressions are the first thing that you notice.

Composition - This image is made up of only 2 people (William and Kate) specifically so that they are the centre of attention. Their innocence is also presented through their soft colour of clothing which are all pastel. Their body composition, with their arms around eachother, is specifically emphasising her engagement ring which is why they are significantly so happy, shown by their overjoyed expressions.

Cropping - This image is cropped so that you can only see the couple holding eachother and a minute part of the background. The fact that only the top half of their bodies are in the image helps enhance their innocence, whereas if Kate was wearing a short dress, for instance, she would seem more promiscuous. By cropping the photo like this, it also makes sure all of the focus is on them and that we are not distracted by anyone else.
